DIY Dry Box for camera and other equipments

Recently, i've been thinking of a way to safe-keep all my camera stuffs which i've invested in so much till today. Sometime last week i encountered something that provided the solution to my thoughts, a DIY storage-box. Basically, this box has only 1 main function, which is to keep things within the box dry and moistless. Without this box, camera and lens expecially may and will develop fungus which all photographers are afraid of!!! And cleaning services may cost a big hole out of your pocket!!!

So, here it is, this link will show u how to get it done yourself, the cost of all this DIY box is no more than RM20. Buying the branded and professional Dry-Box is between RM200 - RM700 for a reasonable size. You may wish to enhance security or knock-resistence by putting padding as base and sides of the box.

Today, Rach, Sarah and i reached church earlier to have the music practise first. Caleb is to lead and he was there at the hall preparing and getting ready to practise as the rest (musicians and singers) taking their respective positions. As Rach took her position as Keyboard player, Sarah in the other hand were warmly greeted by Sheila and Aunty SriAnn, trying very hard to carry her over from my arms. Sarah just wouldn't let go, still "glueing" to me. When Sarah finally un-glue, i started my photo sessions, starting with the worship. I was both worshipping and photographing, same goes to Vincent, video-shooting and worshipping. Next time i'll try posting Vincent in action. Worships were great!

Today's sermon were preached by Ps Nicholas from Singapore, he was Ps Lily's pastor in Singapore before she came to Malaysia and married to Ps Dexter. So, Ps Nicholas is like our VVC's "grand pastor" kinda relationship. Anyway, he shared about "Letting the Past be the Past". This sermon is powerful, no matter how you weight and analyst it. I just couldn't agree more. All i can conclude about this sermon is like having this mental picture of someone holding on to a heavy rock at the surface of a deep water. Its either you want to let go and stay alive on the water afloat or sink together with the rock, the rock is the past, the things which has no future, no blessings from God. Letting go will promise new life, or chance of renewing ourselves again.

Sunday Sermon on 21 Feb 2009

Title of this week's sermon was "Music and Lyrics". Sermon were good!!!
What is the song in your life now?
The message was about the song(s) which can affect our very life itself, both the possitive and the negative effects. Lets say, taking James Blunt's song entitled "You're Beautiful", the song touches a lady lying in hospital with coma. The song was in the radio reaches her ears somehow and gave her a positive signs to come out of coma...just amazing and powerful. Just the very words of the song encourages her to be "alive" again.

So, the sermon by P.Dexter was so right, the music/song can minister in 3 ways in anyone life, first 2 ways has to do with both spirit and soul, where as the lyric/wording affect the mind. In the Bible, God fought for His people when the Isrealites praise & worship Him (2 Chronicles 20:21-22). Even, Paul and Silas's bond were loosen and prison doors opened automatically, when both of them praise and worship in prison!!!

The conclusion, its good to sing songs that encouraging, uplifting and joyful. It basically feeds into someones mind, soul and spirit, where it shaped their lifestyles generally.

So, dear readers, if its possible do sing songs that is good, both the tune and words. For me i don't like loud music, it will spoils the whole thing. If the wording is bad, i tend to ignore and concentrate on the music.

This is actually to announce my parting with my former camera Nikon D40x after being with me since April 2007. Yes, finally it was adopted by new owner, introduced by Brenda whom also just started with photography. So goodbye my dear camera...but i've got NEW Nikon D90 as a replacement...heheehe

My upgraded tool

At first i want to titled it "My upgraded toy", but i did not.

it kept me paused a while when i was about to type it out..."toy" didn't sounded right, it's NOT a toy anymore!!! It is my tool, tool which will help me earn some additional cash for the additional needs to my family. This tool that i am speaking here is my new and upgraded DSLR camera, the Nikon D90.
My previous toy, yet to be converted then was the Nikon D40x, initially purchased to fulfill my intention to make it my hobby and to replace my long lost film-SLR Nikon FM10 which was stolen during my college days. It took me about 10 years to fulfill this hobby and dream. Boy, its such a procrastination!!! But anyhow, ever since i bought D40x, my then "toy", now "tool" has given me back my initial returned investment. I took some photography projects, that's how. My skills isn't as good as the pros out there but i think and hope someday, i can achieve the same as they (pros) did in the nearest future.

oh Yes...the returned investment has prompted me, or should i say "made" me realized that i need a better tool and equipment to bring me and my hobby to greater heights. So, before i could realise this, some how GOD has intervened on my behalf, working ahead of me. Nikon then back in the last quarter has launched this new model D90, with greater features than my current model D40x. I have been keeping myself updated from time to time about Nikon's development until the announcement of D90 in early 2008. But in the last quarter right after he launch of D90, i could not afford it yet, it cost between RM3500-3100 for the body alone then. its just beyond my pocket depth!!!

Praise GOD for HE knew what's best for me...HE opened door of projects that i least expected it. 3 projects in 2 months consecutively. Then on, i knew the time is very near for me to have this new model, that i started looking out and try to know more about this new model. Indeed, for the price offered, it fit my budget to upgrade. The price war was so heated in the last 3 months were a blessing, as well as good review from numerous online forums, has finally made me decided to go for this upgrade.

The date was Jan 12 year 2009, i finally bought Nikon D90 below RM3K. The whole purchase were witnessed by Rachel my wife at the shop were i first bought D40x. This taukeh (shopkeeper) were difficult at first in confirming the price we discussed earlier on phone before the arrival of the camera, but i thought that in other shops that can beat his price, i agreed to pay the difference, paying RM100 more. But, i managed to asked for a "gift" worth more than the difference to cover the additional cost.

Both Rachel and i went back full of excitement and hope for this new "tool". 2 weeks has passes and I'm yet to fully understand the upgraded features, but I'm already snapping here and there.
GOD is so good.

Hi all, i'm posting a sale here, selling my precious DSLR camera. This camera has served me well and i love it very much, but still why am i selling it right? the reason is simple, i need to to let go of it, for an upgrade model, targeting to get Nikon D90...hehehe. The current model (NIKON D40x) is no doubt a very good model for a beginner as well as a backup camera. This camera has helped me make some cash, which is another reason why i need to upgrade, so tht i may produce a better photo, both for client and myself. Lets have a look at this camera below;

The Nikon D40X includes a 18-55mm f.3 5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom/Nikkor Lens. That's a moutful, but it means incredible picture quality. Also included are the shoulder strap, lens caps, USB cable, quick charger, battery, and quick start guide. Please note that in order to start shooting pictures, you're going to need to have your own SD card on hand, as one is not included. However, most standard SD cards will work. This camera had no trouble recognizing and using any brand of SD card. Software is included on CD rom, as well as a very detailed manual. Or read here for more details. Do consider ya. Hi all, yes...i did it finally.

I am launching this site as my official photography portfolio.
This will be my gallery to share what i've taken for both work as a freelance photographer, as well as to serve as my hobby posting images of my family and my day to day sight. Its not much, but its a start, a start where i am venturing into turning my hobby into an income-generating hobby.

I just watched this movie, Andromeda Strain which i find it interesting; scientifically true but its fictions.

You can read the sypnopsis with the link provided, which is very informative. Written by a very young doctor back then in 1969 and published & filmed many times to date. i highly recommend this movie to those who loves medical science and fictions.

Contract Law In MALAYSIA

Before i start my work, going thru all my email is norm for me. Its already a routine. Today, i came across this article forwarded by a friend concerning our Malaysian Contract Law, please if anyone could clarify thruth about this article. Here is how it goes;

Legal Issue on Contract Law in Malaysia - Good for us to know.

A/P Catherine Tay has conducted Legal issues in E-commerce. Notice that most of the time, the receipt / invoice you received from the merchant carries this exclusion clause or similarly worded statement: 'Goods sold are not returnable' or 'No refund once sold'. The thing that I have learnt from her is that : 'As long as your good is purchased for home use and not for business ( i.e. to be resold), the above exclusion clause is VOID. That means, as long as the good is defective, regardless of what is worded, you CAN get back all your money spent. You do not have to accept a repair on the good or an exchange. You CAN ask for a refund. AND you are LEGALLY right and entitled to! What a relevation!! And most of the time the merchant will refuse to return you your money.

Her advice? From her own experience ( and no less than 7 and all successful!), she will threaten the merchant with four words: 'SEE YOU IN COURT!' The court here refers to the Small Claims Tribunal Court. However, you don't have to tell them what court! All you have to pay is RM10 admin fee and the loser (the merchant) will have to refund you the money PLUS the admin fee!

She shared this with us because she felt that even educated people are cowed by such unfair wordings (which includes her jaded friends who are not lawyers). Pls try not to let the merchant fleece you the next time you have a defective good. I know where to file this. On the 16th floor of Putra Place (The Mall opposite Putra World Trade Centre) . The form cost RM5.00. The Tribunal will settle within 2 months period.

1. Pump More Here & Pump Less ThereDon't wait until your car senget one side before inflating your tyres. Low tyre pressure forces your engine to work and drink harder. Driving on underinflated tyres also reduces the life of the tyres. A lose-lose situation.

2. Dig Your NoseDigging your nose is more economical than gunning your engine while waiting at traffic lights. Jack rabbit starts cost you even more. Never floor the pedal unless there's an express bus looming in your rearview mirror. Learn how to accelerate (and brake) smoothly for better fuel efficiency.

3. Pay It Again SamYou may be using an alternative toll-free road as a sign of protest or as a means of saving money. If the the old route is perpetually congested and longer, you may end up burning more fuel than the toll saved. Sad but often true.

6. Get Rid Of FreeloadersThe less passengers the less weight. The less load the better the fuel economy. If you want to car pool, pool the cost. Clear your boot by removing unutilised items like golf sets, prams, barbecue sets, scuba gear, etc.

7. Bear With Crow ShitPark your car under the shade wherever possible. The hotter your car interior becomes, the harder the air-conditioning needs to work later, the more fuel the engine consumes as a result. The hot sun also increases fuel loss through evaporation.

9. Get A LifeStop pissing off your neighbours in the mornings and do yourself a favour. Most modern cars have no chokes or carburetors, so there's no need for long, noisy engine warm- ups. Hard revving a cold engine kills it faster than driving it.

14. Try A Different Nasi LemakAll petrol are the same except for the additives and advertising. Contrary to what most Malaysians believe, you can mix your fuel. Mothers Day at Equatorial Bangi

Our Family had our celebration with mum at Bangi this time. Anticipating that all restaurant will be crowded, just like previous years, bro and i decided it'll be good to have it in an environment friendly especially our 2 youngest addition to our family.

The food was OK with many types of food, mixed both easten and western alike. Mum commented that there isn't many variation of foods, to some extend i agree with her. She don take dairy products, don really like western food, only engaging on "safe" choice of food type; assam laksa, indian curries, ice-kacang, but she does like sweetening desserts. Dad was rather the same but slightly more adventurous.

The highlights was on the children, BB Reanne was quite and playfull in her own world, at times she dozze off by herself, leaving the parents enjoying their food in their sweet time. As for BB Sarah, she's on a dependable mode, insisting on being carried most of the time, only took short interval naps.

Well, everyone enjoy themselves and as well a family, Praise God. I must thank God the He is always good to our family; loving and provides for our family. Also, i must tahnk Mum for giving much of herself in providing for the family thru her care and sacrifices. Thanks mum and, Happy Mothers Day.
